What’s the Best Material for a Dry Pack Shower Base?

I'm trying to figure out what materials to use for dry packing a shower base but I'm struggling to find the right deck mud or a 4 to 1 concrete mix. I came across something called '24/6 fast setting concrete' at Home Depot. Is that what I should be using?

Nah, that's not what you want for dry pack. I usually use Sakrete Sand Mix, and it's pretty good, though some folks like to toss in a bit more sand. You could also just grab some portland cement and mix sand with it; they carry that too at Home Depot.

Thanks! I just checked my local store and they have 'Quikrete Sand/Topping Mix.' Is that the same?

If there's a Floor and Decor nearby, they can help you out with the right materials. They were super helpful when I redid my shower.

I have one about an hour away; I’ll definitely plan a trip!
