What’s the Best MPPT Charge Controller for Upgrading to a 48V LiFePO4 System?

I'm upgrading my cabin's system from a 24V lead-acid battery setup to a new 48V LiFePO4 bank. I'm in the market for an MPPT charge controller that can handle this transition. My system includes 4x 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries wired for 48V and a solar array with a total capacity of 2000 W. In the future, I plan on using a 5 kW inverter along with a backup generator. I'm looking for recommendations on brands of MPPT charge controllers. Do these controllers maintain voltage efficiently and are they compatible with lithium batteries? Also, I'm concerned with fan noise and display accuracy since my cabin is usually pretty quiet, and I don't want a noisy controller ruining the peace.

I've found that Victron is a solid choice for charge controllers. They've got a good reputation and work great with lithium batteries. Plus, they have a handy calculator on their website where you can input your solar panel specs to get the best controller match for your setup. Definitely check that out before you buy!

That calculator is super useful! It makes picking the right equipment so much easier.

If you're looking for a hybrid or all-in-one system, I've heard good things about the EG4. Just a heads up, the inverter tends to be a bit noisy, but you could mount the EG4 outside to mitigate that. They do come with their own set of quirks, though.

What kind of quirks are we talking about with the EG4?

Honestly, just go with Victron and you won't regret it! They're reliable, and you can rest easy knowing it’ll work well with your lithium setup.
