What’s the Best Non-Toxic Finish for Indoor Sculptures?

Hey everyone! I've picked up some skills from experienced woodworkers, but I'm getting mixed answers on which finish is the best for sculptures. I'm specifically looking for a non-toxic finish that has a medium to high shine. Durability isn't a major concern since these pieces will just be displayed indoors and won't be exposed to the elements. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Beeswax is a solid choice if you're looking for something natural and non-toxic. It provides a nice sheen without being harsh.

Water-based polyurethane is another great option. It's relatively safe as long as the sculptures aren’t going to be chewed on or anything!

There really isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The best finish often depends on your specific project and preferences.

Thanks for the tips! I've never heard of using soap before, but I’ll definitely check out water-based polyurethane and maybe give beeswax a go. Looking forward to trying out a few different finishes!

Shellac could be worth considering! It’s non-toxic and easy to work with. Just be sure to know that it comes in both chips and ready-to-use forms.
