I'm currently using a Wards Master No. 4 plane from the late '40s and wondering what the best option would be for a shooting board. I'm thinking about adding a No. 6 or No. 7 to my arsenal. Any advice on what plane works best for this setup?

For shooting boards, a No. 5 or No. 6 is typically recommended if you have the space for a larger board. A No. 4 will do fine for most small to medium projects, but the added weight of the bigger planes can be a nice advantage. If you're willing to spend, a low-angle No. 62 can really shine as well!

I built a shooting board inspired by Rob Cosman and tried using a No. 3, 4, and 5, but I got the best results with my low-angle No. 62. That's definitely my go-to now!
