What’s the Best Plywood for a Bathroom Vanity?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about building a bathroom vanity, but I don't have much experience. I'm interested in getting pre-finished red or white oak plywood, but I've noticed there are a ton of options and differences out there. I'd like to do my research before heading to the lumberyard. I know it might be pricier, but that's okay with me since it's for my own home. Thanks for any help!

For a bathroom setting, marine plywood is your best bet. It’s made with waterproof, boil-proof glue and can handle all the moisture. Trust me, things can get steamy in there, so going for something durable is key!

Thanks for the tip!

I actually haven't seen pre-finished oak plywood myself, so I'd be cautious about that. Red oak might not be the way to go. White oak is decent but save the splurge for visible parts of the cabinet. For most cases, maple or birch plywood is a solid choice—especially if you’re planning to paint it. If the plywood won’t be visible on the outside, you don’t need to invest in anything too fancy. Focus on quality hardware instead!

I appreciate the input! I wanted oak because I’m considering some exposed wood panels, but the plywood itself won’t be seen. Here’s a pic of what I have in mind.

Looks like a good plan! Exposed wood can really elevate the design.
