I'm currently propogating some String of Hearts and Dischidia Ruscifolia (Million Hearts) that are well-rooted in water. I've been trying to grow them in a gritty mix, but they aren't thriving at all. I feed them every other watering and only water as needed under my Barrina lights. I'm looking for advice on what potting mix or care has made your vining succulents thrive!

I've got a bunch of different 'strings of' plants, including hearts, and I’ve noticed they prefer a slightly less gritty mix than typical succulents. I plant them in shallower pots and make sure to soak the soil, then wait until it’s completely dry before watering again. They start to show signs of thirst—like soft leaves for the String of Hearts—before I water them again. I usually fertilize very rarely, maybe because they have more soil. My ratio is around 60% grit to 40% regular soil for most succulents, but for my strings, I lean more toward 50/50. Their delicate stems and shallow roots seem to appreciate this little extra care!

Thanks for the tips! What specific potting mix do you use? Is it a standard potting mix or something like a cactus/succulent mix? Also, do you add things like pumice or perlite, or do you go heavier with materials like chicken grit and sand?
