What’s the Best Potting Soil for Succulents and Cacti?

Asked By GreenThumb29! On

Hey everyone! I'm new to growing succulents and cacti, and I'm trying to figure out what the best potting soil is for them. I picked up some Miracle-Gro recently but I've heard it's not the best option. Any recommendations on what type of soil to use or brands that work well? I'd really appreciate any tips or advice! Thanks a lot!

I've been using Bonsai Jack soil, and while it's a bit pricey, it’s been great for my plants so far. If you're investing in your succulents, it might be worth it!

If you're feeling adventurous, I mix my own soil! I use 50% earth, 30% sand or perlite, 10% charcoal chips, and 10% carbonized rice husk. It works wonders for my plants!

Sounds awesome! I've heard custom mixes can really help, especially with drainage.

You can't go wrong with a mix of peat or coir and perlite. It provides great drainage, which is super important for succulents. Just make sure it doesn't hold too much moisture!

Totally agree! That combo tends to work really well.
