I've been crafting a lot of chairs from recycled timber planks and I'm in need of a more efficient sanding solution. I currently use a handheld belt sander with 80 grit paper, but it requires me to keep fastening each plank down before sanding, which is time-consuming. I'm looking for recommendations on a fixed, freestanding sander that would allow me to easily run the planks through without all the fuss.

If you're looking for a balance of efficiency and cost, consider the Festool Rotex or the Bosch 6n. Both are aggressive options that should make quick work of your planks. You might even think about a planer; running the timber through that could be super fast!
You might want to look into drum sanders—they're a solid option for quickly sanding down larger pieces of wood. Just be careful; they can be a bit aggressive, so make sure to keep your fingers safe!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into those options.
