I'm trying to figure out the quickest way to cut holes in some blocking near my soffits. I've been using a 2 inch hole saw bit with my cordless drill, but it's really slow going—each hole takes several minutes. With 30 rafters needing 2 holes each, it's feeling like a tedious job, especially since I need to drill awkwardly overhead. Any recommendations for better tools or methods?

Using a right-angle drill with a bi-metal hole saw or a spade bit could speed things up significantly. If cut precision isn't a big deal, consider trying out an oscillating multi-tool or a reciprocating saw with a wood blade for quicker cuts. A rotozip or a small router with a plunge bit could also be great for making those openings faster.

I’ll definitely check out the right angle drill option with a 1.5 inch spade or 2 inch hole saw. I hadn’t thought of using my router for this!
