I'm just getting started with carpentry and could really use some advice! I'm trying to figure out the best tool for a specific cut I need to make. I've heard about using a jigsaw, but I'm not sure if that's the best option. Here's a link to the cut I'm working on: https://imgur.com/a/XmIQfKH. If there's a handheld power tool that works well, I'd prefer that, but I'm also open to getting a table saw if necessary.

You have a few good options! A table saw, jigsaw, or even an oscillating tool could work for that cut. Personally, I’d go with a table saw for the bulk of the cuts and finish up with the multitool to get it just right.

Thanks for the insight! I’m planning to buy a table saw this summer, but I think I’ll start with a circular saw and a jigsaw for now since I’m just doing some minor deck repairs.
