I'm looking for advice on sharpening chains for my chainsaws. I have a 16" and an 18" chainsaw along with a pole saw. I've noticed that the first few cuts with a new chain are super smooth, but then it quickly becomes less effective and eventually stops cutting. I try using a chain sharpening file, but after spending a long time on it, I still feel like I'm not getting much improvement, which leads me to just buy a new chain instead. What's the best tool or method to sharpen chains more efficiently? Should I consider using a specific drill bit or something? Also, I've heard some people mention that the Oregon .050 bar and chain is great—are there any upgraded options that hold their sharpness longer?

If you're more into electric tools, check out this Electric Chainsaw Sharpener (link: harborfreight.com/electric-chainsaw-sharpener). It’s pretty handy for quick sharpening sessions.
Stihl offers an excellent chain sharpener that many users swear by! Just so you know, the one from Stihl is reportedly made by PFERD, if you want to look into that brand as well.
If you're willing to invest a bit, I recommend checking out this sharpening system I found (link: sherrilltree.com/timberline-chainsaw-sharpener). It’s known for being quick and providing accurate, repeatable results!
You should check out chickanic on YouTube! She has a video demonstrating a Dremel attachment that sharpens chainsaw blades at an angle. It looks like it could make the process much easier, though I haven't tried it myself yet.
Yeah, I've heard that too! PFERD makes some solid sharpening tools.
