What’s the Best Waterproof Board for Building an Outdoor Package Shelter?

I'm in search of a board that I can easily work with, either 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch thick, that is completely waterproof. I want to create a weatherproof shelter outside my door to store packages, as I prefer not to have them left directly at my door where they could get rained on. I'm looking for a material similar to plywood that can be cut with hand tools like a jigsaw or circular saw. While composite decking crossed my mind, it doesn't come in the right board sizes—I need something closer to 2-ft x 4-ft instead of the standard 4x8 sheets. I've considered plywood, but the process of treating it with multiple coats of paint and prep work seems extensive and maintenance-heavy. Any suggestions?

If you're after something that's totally waterproof, consider using plastic or cement boards like GoBoard. They are light and easy to handle. You could also opt for pressure-treated or marine-grade lumber, which can endure the elements with less upkeep.

Have you checked out T1-11 siding? It's designed for outdoor use, and they make pressure-treated versions too. Just make sure to angle the top to avoid water pooling, then prime and paint it to extend its life.

You might want to look into getting a Rubbermaid outdoor storage chest. They’re made of UV resistant resin, so they can handle the weather really well. I have one that’s been outside for years with no leaks, and it’s great for keeping tools and birdseed safe from moisture and pests.
