I'm looking to build a shed on the side of my yard to store my mower and tools, freeing up space in the garage for the car. Unfortunately, the only good spot is on a slope. I've helped build sheds in the past, but they were always on flat ground. Should I dig out the high side to make it level for a concrete slab, or should I consider building a retaining wall on the low side and filling in? Alternatively, is it better to pour piers and frame it with wood? Here's a picture of the site: [picture](https://imgur.com/eJ1ZmdI)

You’ve got a couple of solid options! You can excavate the high side to sort of embed the shed into the hill, or just pour level footers if you're looking for a simpler solution. Each method has its benefits, so weigh your options based on how much work you want to put into it!
From what you've described, digging down for foundations might not be the best idea, as it could cause water issues. Instead, you should think about building up. I recommend either using concrete blocks with steel brackets for footers, which is the easiest route, or constructing a retaining wall and backfilling. Just keep in mind, pouring a concrete pad might not be the best option for a shed since it's meant to be temporary.
