Hey everyone, I'm starting a garden this year and I'm wondering what's the best method to kill off all the existing vegetation in the area before I start planting. Any helpful suggestions?

If you want to avoid using pesticides, a good method is to cut down all the vegetation as low as you can. After that, lay down some cardboard over the area you want to clear. The lack of sunlight will pretty much obliterate any plants underneath it. Once it's all dead, you can easily pull out the roots and any leftover plants. It's a great way to go organic!

Not a bad idea! But if I were to consider chemical options, which ones would you recommend? Last year we tilled but started too late, so all we got was grass. Chemicals seem like they would make the process easier.
