What’s the Best Way to Communicate Between Floors in My House?

Asked By SillyLlama92 On

I recently added a second floor to my house, and it's become a hassle trying to communicate. My mom often has to yell or come upstairs for brief chats, and I find myself doing the same for requests. I'm looking for a device or mobile app that can help us call or notify each other without shouting. Any recommendations for something easy to use for daily communication?

An intercom system could be a great solution! I got a 5-set home phone with an intercom feature for my multi-level home and it’s really convenient. You can ring specific units or all of them at once, which makes it super easy to connect with family members without having to yell. They usually range in price, so I’d check a few online to see what fits your budget.

Honestly, using WhatsApp works just fine for casual communication if everyone in the house has a phone. You can send quick messages or even make voice calls without needing to go up and down the stairs. Just saying, it might be simpler than getting new devices!

You might want to consider smart speakers like Amazon Echo, Google Nest, or Apple HomePods. They all come with intercom features! For example, with an Echo, you can use the 'Drop In' feature to communicate instantly with someone in another room, and it’s really user-friendly. Plus, you can control it all with your voice!
