What’s the best way to cool down my bedroom without a traditional AC unit?

I'm struggling with the Florida heat and my bedroom setup doesn't allow for typical cooling solutions. My only window is a jalousie type, and it's linked to a sunroom made by my grandfather. I can't easily vent a portable AC outside because of that. Plus, with Florida's humidity, an evaporative cooler wouldn't work well either. Any suggestions for how to keep this room cool at night? It barely gets to 75 degrees, and I can't take it anymore!

If you're okay making some modifications, a floor-standing portable AC unit could fit through the jalousie window by taking out a couple of the panels. I did this for my room with jalousie windows, and it was a game changer! Just make sure to get a dual-hose model for better efficiency.

Thanks for the tip! Since it’s my house, I’m open to making changes, and that sounds like a solid idea.

You could also think about improving airflow between your room and the rest of the house if it's centrally air-conditioned. Just placing a fan to push air towards your room might help out a bit if the whole house is cooler but your room isn’t. It can make a big difference!

That’s a good idea too! I’ve been running a bunch of fans, but I’ll try using one to pull in air from the rest of the house.

Consider installing a mini split air conditioner. They’re efficient and can really bring down the temperature in a space like yours. I put one in my bedroom and it works like a charm!
