What’s the Best Way to Cut Flexible Metal Conduit?

I'm looking to add an outlet to an existing circuit that's currently only supporting one outlet. To do this, I need to cut a section out of the flexible metal conduit so I can install a junction box and splice a new run. I also want to ensure I can cut the conduit without risking damage to the wires inside it. What are the best tools or methods for this task?

I'd go with the roto splitter too, they work really well for this stuff. Using dykes is a classic trick, but just ensure you have a way to clean up the edges after. For deburring, a simple deburring tool or even some sandpaper can make the edges nice and smooth. It's all about making sure everything is safe once you cut.

The best tool for cutting flexible metal conduit is probably a roto split, like the one made by Seatek. Klein also makes a fantastic version. If you're looking for a simpler approach, you can always bend it until it cracks and then finish it off with a pair of dykes, just make sure to deburr the edges afterward to avoid any sharp bits. Some people even use hacksaws for this, but it can be a bit messy. Just keep in mind that whatever method you choose, you want to avoid cutting into the wires inside the conduit!
