I recently installed a water softener in my home, and now my skin feels really slippery and greasy after showering. I'm wondering if anyone has tips on how to adjust to this feeling, and if there are any recommended brands of body wash or hand wash that work well with soft water.

That slippery feeling is just how soft water is! It's gentler on your skin and hair than hard water. Rather than switching brands, try using less soap or body wash. It'll help you feel less greasy without losing that soft water benefit!
I switched to bar soap when we got our softener, and it helped eliminate that greasy residue. As for body washes, I found Dove works well for me, and Cetaphil is great for the face. If you're still feeling icky, you can adjust your softener settings or even mix in some unsoftened water if that's an option!
It might take some getting used to, but many people find that soft water is actually better for the skin over time, especially if you have conditions like eczema. I suggest using only about a quarter to half of what you normally would for body wash and other products. Just keep up with maintenance on your softener, too!

Totally! I've found that using less product really does the trick. We used rainwater for a while, and just cutting back on the soap made a huge difference. There's an added benefit too!
