What’s the Best Way to Dispose of Leylandii After Removal?

I'm planning to remove about 12 Leylandii trees that are roughly 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Since I've got a big garden space, I can stack the waste there while I'm working on taking the trees down. Once they're removed, I need some advice on how to get rid of the waste. I have a few options in mind like hiring a company with a wood chipper, or using a skip to dispose of it myself, but I'd really prefer a cheaper option. I'm also not interested in burning the wood. Any suggestions on what would be the best route to take?

Why not try advertising the cut wood for free on Facebook Marketplace? It can get picked up pretty quickly by people with log burners. They'll season it themselves and use it in the colder months, so it's a win-win!

I actually burned my Leylandii after chopping it into smaller pieces, and it worked out fine for me! I only had a little bit of ash left, which I used for my roses—just something to consider if you change your mind about burning.

Burning can definitely be an option if you're doing it safely and responsibly! Just make sure to check any local regulations about burning garden waste.

When we took down our Leylandii hedge, we used the logs for landscaping—like bed edging—and buried the trimmings in a hugelkultur garden bed. If you’re into DIY projects, chipping the greenery for mulch could be useful too if you need mulch for paths or gardens!
