I've got a pretty dense 40x40' patch of bamboo in my backyard and most of the culms are over 2 inches wide. We're planning to rent a mini excavator to clear the area and install a barrier afterwards, but first, we need to cut the bamboo down. So far, we've just been using loppers, but that's been really time-consuming and exhausting. I'm looking for suggestions on better tools to make this task easier and faster.

A two-person team with a chainsaw might be your best bet! One person can hold the top while the other cuts at the base. It makes the job quicker and definitely less labor-intensive! Just make sure you're safe while doing it!
Have you tried using an Ego weedeater with a brush blade? I found that works great for my bamboo, even though mine was a bit smaller than 2 inches. Just a heads up about installing a barrier—those rhizomes have a way of creeping under, so keep an eye out for new shoots coming up!
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely consider the weedeater for a smoother cut.

That's a solid idea! Just be careful with the chainsaw; those things can kick back if not handled right.
