I tried to install a new Reolink doorbell cam that connects to my existing wiring, but while working on it, I accidentally cut some of the doorbell wire. The wiring is pretty jammed in there, running up through the door frame and into the storm door, and it's connected in a way that makes it hard to pull any slack out without cutting a hole in the wall or removing the door casing. I'm trying to figure out the best way to extend the wires. The transformer outputs 16V, so would it be safe to use some wagos and fit them between the door casing and the studs? Or would crimping the wires be a better option?

I relocated my doorbell once and used 18/2 thermostat wire to extend the wires. I soldered the connections and covered them with heat shrink tubing, but honestly, electrical tape would have worked just fine too.

So at 16V, it’s not super critical to use a junction box, right? Seems like you could just solder and tuck it in wherever it fits!
