I'm dealing with a bit of a nightmare in my yard thanks to the previous owner planting five Crape Myrtles. They're taking over my backyard, dropping flowers everywhere, and blocking out sunlight. I did manage to cut down a couple in the back before, and while I didn't hear anything from the HOA, I'm hesitant to go after another one in the front since it's shielding a streetlight. After chopping the stumps and trying to kill them with RoundUp, they're still sprouting shoots! Why won't these trees just die? Any advice on how to finally get rid of my Crape Myrtles for good?

I get your frustration! Why not try cutting the stump down and painting it with triclopyr? Forget about those drilling holes—just brush it on the fresh cut and make sure to spray any new shoots that pop up. It might take a few years, but those Crape Myrtles can be tough to get rid of!
Honestly, you might just need to dig out all the roots. Crape Myrtles are notorious for being tough to kill. You could rent a digger, but it's going to be a lot of work. Also, don’t be surprised if you need to remove some of your fence to get in there. They’re pretty indestructible!
Wow, sounds like a massive project! Good luck with that! ?

Great tip! Just make sure you get the right spray for those sprouts when they appear.
