What’s the Best Way to Get Rid of Weeds in Block Paving?

I've been struggling with weeds returning to my block paving even after deweeding, jet washing, and resanding. I tried using Rosate360 to help the sand settle, but the weeds keep coming back. Is there a product that can effectively poison the land and prevent weeds from growing?

While glyphosate (like Rosate) is decent for killing existing weeds, it breaks down too quickly to be effective long-term. You might want to consider using a pre-emergent weed killer; those can stop new weeds from popping up by treating the sand before seeds take root.

Jet washing isn't the best method because it just pushes weed seeds deeper into the cracks. Instead, you could use vinegar or rock salt. Vinegar works on both seeds and plants, but it does break down eventually into harmless parts. Salt can stop weeds for a while, but be careful as it can harm nearby plants. Just keep in mind, new seeds will still come in, so regular maintenance helps.

That makes sense! I guess I could try brushing the area regularly to keep new seeds from taking hold.

I've used rock salt on my drive, and it definitely killed off weeds for a few months. Just be aware that new seeds will eventually take root. One trick I heard is to brush the area weekly to prevent them from establishing, but honestly, who has the time for that?

Yeah, brushing sounds like a lot of effort! I'd probably forget after a week.
