What’s the best way to grow cucumbers in a small space?

I've been reading a lot of conflicting opinions on how many cucumbers can fit in a square foot garden. Some say it's fine to have two in one square foot, while others suggest that's too crowded and could set them up for failure. Has anyone experienced with growing cucumbers got any insights? Can two cukes thrive together, or will one end up overshadowing the other?

I'd recommend sticking with just one cucumber per square foot, especially in a sunny area. They can get quite leafy, and two in such a tight space might lead to overcrowding.

I’ve grown two cucumbers in the same hole, and it’s worked well for me! I let them climb a trellis or hang over the side of the garden box. Just remember to fertilize them every couple of weeks to boost their growth.

Wow, so growing them in the same hole really doesn’t cause root issues? I’ve got a 5-ft trellis for mine!
