I've got a 50-pound black lab and a 50+ pound pit bull, and I'm struggling to get grass to grow in their pen. Any tips on how to make it work? I really want to keep them out of the mud!

Honestly, it might be tough to get grass to thrive with those two big pups running around. I've heard from others that sod or seeds just don’t hold up. Dogs, especially Labs, tend to dig and patrol, which makes it a lost cause sometimes. You might just be better off putting your money elsewhere.
Putting down straw as a base could help too. It’s a bit better on their paws and might give the grass a bit of a head start. Just keep in mind they’ll still have their fun tearing it up!
You could try using a high-traffic grass mix specifically designed to handle wear and tear. There are also some options labeled as dog friendly, which might hold up better against their activities. Just be ready for some wear and tear!
Good point! I’ve had luck with a tough breed that can withstand some pup action. Worth a shot!

Totally agree! I've had the same experience with my dogs. They just love to be outside and dig up anything you try to grow.
