What’s the Best Way to Grow Seed Potatoes in Limited Space?

I just got some seed potatoes and I'm trying to figure out the best way to grow them since I have limited ground space. I've heard it's possible to grow them in buckets or raised beds. Can anyone share their best methods for growing both sweet and gold potatoes? I'm located in zone 8a, so any tips specific to that would be great!

Personally, I prefer using something like black fabric grow pots since they’re easy to dump out when it’s time to harvest. It’s much simpler to pull out the whole plant and see where all the potatoes are. This method works well for me!

I’ve grown potatoes in buckets and even milk crates because of space issues, and they turned out pretty well! It's a solid option if you’re tight on room.

You can plant your seed potatoes directly in the ground, in buckets, or in raised beds—just make sure the eyes are facing up. They’re pretty flexible! If you want to cut them into pieces, you can, but it’s not necessary unless you’re trying to save space. A tip: plant some marigolds around them to help with pests!

Totally agree about the marigolds! Also, when planting in containers, leave about 6-8 inches of soil at the bottom. I’ve found that the soil down there holds too much moisture, which can lead to rotting potatoes before harvest—definitely learned that the hard way!

Yes! Marigolds are lifesavers. I’ve done the same with containers and had good results; it's a nice way to manage space.
