Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to woodworking and I'm curious about the honing process for chisels and planer blades, particularly when it comes to micro bevels. Is there a general consensus on how to tackle the honing? Should I work on the primary bevel first and go through different grit levels before focusing on the micro bevel, or is it better to work on both bevels simultaneously? Or is this more about personal preference? I'd really appreciate any insights or tips!

As a newbie, I’d say stick to sharpening just one bevel first until you get a good handle on it. Forget about micro bevels for now — I personally don't see much benefit in them. Once you have sharpening down, then you can consider experimenting with the micro bevel approach. With solid sharpening skills, you can achieve great results with just the primary bevel!

Absolutely! Getting comfortable with the primary bevel is key. Once you master that, moving onto micro bevels could come later if you want more durability in your edges.
