I just bought a home and I'm looking to install ceiling fans in my rooms. I think I need to purchase the fans first and then hire an electrician, but I'm not totally sure about the process. I believe I might not have electrical boxes in the ceilings, and I'm not confident enough to handle the installation myself. Can anyone confirm if my understanding is correct?

You’ve got the right idea for the steps! Just a tip though; you might want to make sure the fans you buy are returnable in case they don’t work with your setup. So, just to confirm your list: 1. Buy fans, 2. Hire an electrician to assess and install them. If the electrician finds them incompatible, you can return them.
