Hey everyone! Hope your week is going well. I'm trying to figure out how to insulate my garage door since my partner and I have moved our bedroom into our finished garage. It's been working nicely, but as the colder months approach, I want to cover and insulate the garage door to keep it warm. I've thought about using insulation panels, but they are a bit unattractive and pricey. I considered draping a thick fabric over it, but I'm not sure how effective that would be in freezing temperatures. Another option I thought of was a fitted wooden panel, which I'm okay with constructing since I'm handy. I want something that strikes a balance between aesthetics and insulation, so I'm open to any ideas or experiences you all might have. Thanks a bunch!

Just a heads up, some insulation panels can be quite flammable! I learned from a YouTube video where they tested different types by setting them on fire. Fiberglass insulation is usually the least flammable, but you’d need to seal it behind a wall, which might not work if you want to open the door regularly. Consider reflective insulated blankets like the ones used in RVs; they're removable if you need to open the garage. They're not the fanciest option, but they do the job!
I went with R 7.5 1 1/4” insulated board from Home Depot, which I glued to the back of my garage door. It's not the most attractive setup, but it keeps the garage around 65 degrees with a small space heater when it’s in the 20s outside. When it gets colder than 10 degrees, it struggles a bit, but it’s definitely better than freezing!

Thanks for the advice! They might not look great, but if they work, that's what really matters!
