What’s the best way to lock a sliding pocket door?

I'm looking for advice on how to create a lock for my sliding pocket door. It doesn't swing open like a regular door; it slides into the wall instead. Any tips or ideas would be super helpful! Thanks!

Another option is to use a sliding bolt lock, which you can install on the edge of the door. It’s not super sophisticated but can definitely keep the door secure when you need it to be.

I’ve used a sliding bolt on mine and it works just fine. Just be sure to get one that fits your door’s thickness!

It sounds like you definitely have a pocket door! For locking it, you could consider a privacy lock designed specifically for pocket doors. They usually have a thumb turn on the inside and a simple slot or pin on the outside. This way, you have some privacy without needing to do extensive modifications.

Totally agree! I installed one in my pocket door and it’s worked great. Just make sure to measure the door thickness before buying the lock.
