I'm picking up some metal lockers from Facebook Marketplace and want to give them a fresh coat of paint in a new color. I want the finish to stay smooth like it is now, but I'm not sure about the right paint and primer to use, or the best application method. Any tips?

Start by lightly sanding the lockers to get rid of any shine. After that, I'd recommend using spray paint—specifically a gloss or enamel type. It's best to do multiple light coats to avoid drips and achieve a smooth finish. The key is patience—don't rush it!
First, lightly sand the surface and then spray paint them using Rustoleum enamel primer and paint. One coat of primer should be enough, followed by two coats of color and two coats of clear coat. Make sure to let each coat cure for about 20 minutes—that's crucial! After you're done, set them aside for a week to fully cure before moving them. If you want a more professional finish, you could try an HVLP gun, but that requires more investment and skill.
If you're going for the spray paint option, definitely check out a few YouTube tutorials to nail that smooth finish. It can make a big difference in your results!
