I recently finished power washing my mother's old brick walkways, which had gotten dangerously slippery due to algae. It seems like I have to do this about twice a year. Is there anything I can apply to the bricks to help fend off that algae, or is this just something that happens over time? Would adding some kind of sand or grit help with the situation? Any tips would be much appreciated!

The algae growth is likely due to standing water or poor drainage. If you can adjust the drainage so water can flow away from the bricks, they'll dry out faster and hopefully reduce the algae.
Totally agree! Addressing drainage should be a priority before trying anything else.

That makes sense, but fixing the drainage can be a bit tricky depending on how the yard is set up.
