I have some exposed wires from my irrigation system that run from the controller in my garage to a plastic covering underground. I'm not convinced the plastic is doing a good job protecting them. What are the best options for safeguarding these wires, especially from the exposed parts near the house? I also plan to replace the conduit leading from the garage to ensure better protection.

You should consider using split conduit! It's a sturdy plastic tube that's cut lengthwise so you can easily slip it over your existing wiring.
