What’s the Best Way to Rehome Plants You No Longer Want?

Hey everyone! I'm on a bit of a plant journey and I've come to realize that some of my plants just don't spark joy for me anymore—like my random succulents and even the popular pink princess philodendron! They're all doing reasonably well (except for a string of hearts that's not thriving), but I'd love to find them homes with people who will appreciate and care for them. I'm not really looking to make any money off of them; I'd just be grateful for a few pothos cuttings in return! I know people usually suggest Facebook Marketplace, but I'm hoping to bypass that for various reasons. I'm located in central Massachusetts, so if anyone knows of local groups, clubs, schools, or individuals who might want these plants, I'd love to hear your ideas!

I suggest using Craigslist for giving away your plants. Just post them as free, and you’ll definitely get some interest! Plus, there's this app called Buy Nothing that focuses on gifting in your local area—could be a nice fit for you if you're willing to create a Facebook account just for that.

You might want to try dropping them off at a local library or nursing home! Those places often welcome greenery to brighten up the space. Another option is to check out Nextdoor, where you can offer them up to your neighbors directly. It's a great way to connect and share plants!

Great suggestions! Thanks!

If you live in an apartment with a common area, you could leave the plants there with a sign saying they’re free for the taking. I’ve done this before and it usually works like a charm! If you're open to it, also consider local subreddits for your area to find plant enthusiasts.

I’m not a big FB user, so I'm not even aware of plant swap groups! That sounds exciting! I'll look around and see if I can find one.
