What’s the Best Way to Repair My Masonite Siding?

I have 12-inch Masonite siding on my house, but the lower sections are looking pretty rough. Everything above the fourth row is still in good shape. Unfortunately, I can't afford to replace the entire siding. Are there any options available to fix or replace just the lower courses, especially since they no longer produce Masonite? I've included a picture for reference.

Consider using alternative products that can be adapted to fit your siding style. For instance, LP Smart Siding comes in 11.84 inches, and you could also cut wider sheet goods to match what you need. Once it's painted to match, it might blend in pretty well! Just make sure to check the thickness of your current siding before buying anything.

Got it, thanks for the tip! I think my Masonite is either 1/8 or 3/16 inch thick.

I just measured mine, and it's 9/16 inch. It seems like 12-inch siding is hard to find now. I did stumble upon some used 12-inch LP Smart Siding, but it's textured. Do you think I could plane off the texture and still use it?

You might want to check with neighbors who are replacing their Masonite siding. They might be able to save you some pieces, and you could offer them a small fee for the help! It can be a great way to score some matching material without breaking the bank.
