Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on how to properly seal a small wooden cutting board, about 1ft square, that I plan to use as a trivet for hot pots and dishes. It won't be directly used for food prep, just for spills or to place hot items on. I've already done some repairs to the board, but I'm a bit lost on the best sealing method. I'm considering using clear resin and applying a few hand-painted layers, but I'm open to other recommendations. Ideally, I'd like a waterproof or at least water-resistant seal, although it's not a super big deal. I'd appreciate any different options or suggestions you might have. Thanks!

For sealing a cutting board, your best bet is to use mineral oil or a blend of mineral oil and beeswax. It's food-safe and quite affordable. While there are products specifically made for cutting boards, most are just variations of mineral oil. I would advise against using resin since it might not withstand the heat of pots. Stick with the simpler options for durability!
