I'm looking for a solution to prevent any plants from taking root along my fence line and to kill off anything that's already growing. I'm willing to consistently apply whatever it is every day for a few months if necessary. Any suggestions?

If you're open to chemicals, proper weed killer could do the trick. Just be careful with salt; while effective, it can really mess up your soil long-term. You could also try pouring boiling water on the area—that'll definitely help kill what's there!
You might want to avoid poisoning the soil altogether. Instead of pouring chemicals, why not just dig out the unwanted plants? If it's something coming over from a neighbor's yard, your method could be fine for wild plants, but direct removal is usually better where possible.

Have you considered using stuff like concrete or putting up a root barrier? Plastic sheeting or a few layers of cardboard can really block the growth, and something like damp proof membrane works great to stop roots from coming through.
