Hey folks! I'm trying to fit a speaker into a cabinet, but it's just a tad too tall for my space. I'd rather not touch the cabinet itself, so I'm thinking about shaving off about 1/16" from the bottom of the speaker. I have a random orbital sander (ROS) I could use, or I could pick up a $40 hand planer from Harbor Freight, which might be faster. Alternatively, I could borrow my Dad's router. What would you all recommend as the best method to do this?

Using a router is definitely the way to go! Sanding won't give you a consistent cut. Just set up a fence with a straight piece of wood or a level and clamp it down to ensure you take off an even 1/16" across the entire bottom. One thing to watch for: if your router has a flat base, don't push that along the fence; it can mess up your cut.

Thanks for the router tip!
