What’s the Best Well-Draining Soil for Tropical Plants?

I'm looking to repot my tropical plants and need some recommendations for well-draining soil. Ideally, I want to provide them with the best possible mix. I'm located in Canada, so any tips on specific brands or combinations that work well would be appreciated!

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is my go-to! Depending on the plant, I might adjust the mix a bit. For instance, I throw in more perlite and nuggets of coconut husk and orchid bark. My red and lemon lime marantas are loving it! Just remember, they don’t want to dry out too much. For plants like monstera or pothos, I keep it chunkier with less soil. Makes a big difference!

Where can I find Fox Farm soil in Canada?

I've switched to coco coir instead of traditional soil. It's not as muddy and saves space, which I really appreciate. I also mix in some charcoal and perlite for better results. Definitely worth a shot!

I absolutely love using Fox Farm Ocean Soil! It's great for drainage, but I usually mix in some perlite, orchid bark, and charcoal to enhance it even more. It gives my plants the airy environment they thrive in. Happy potting!
