What’s the cost of adding a door to my stucco wall?

Hey folks! I'm about to close on a house and I'm realizing there's no interior door leading to the backyard, which is a bit of a hassle with my three dogs. I'm considering installing a dog door as well, but I'm curious about the potential costs and any issues I might encounter when putting in a new door. Anyone have experience with this?

Definitely consider the total scope of the project. If you're thinking about replacing a window with a door, that could change things a bit. Make sure to plan for all the little things like framing and finishing touches. Kudos for getting prepared ahead of time!

Installing a door in a stucco wall isn’t super complicated, but you’ll need to find someone willing to do it, which can be tricky sometimes. Expect the costs to be over $1000. The exact price will depend on your location and what type of door you choose. Remember, besides just cutting the opening, you'll need to factor in costs for the door itself, framing, potential flooring adjustments, baseboards, and paint touch-ups—these can add up quickly!
