I'm considering buying a home that is fantastic overall, but it still has single pane windows. There are about 10 of them that I'd need to replace with regular double pane windows, not custom ones, and I plan to hire a professional for the job. I live in Texas, so I'm curious about the potential costs involved. Any insights?

First things first, make sure to check your local Energy Trust website for potential rebates on double or triple pane windows. They usually have lists of trusted contractors who can help explain the differences in window types. As a heads up, triple pane windows can help block outside noise a bit better and keep the heat out while still allowing sunlight in. I had 10 windows and 2 sliding doors replaced for around $15K a couple of years back, and I got about a $2600 rebate, so it's worth exploring!

Totally agree! I'm in Canada, so I can't comment on Texas specifics, but definitely inquire about government programs. I replaced 13 windows and 4 exterior doors for around $34K CAD thanks to federal discounts!
