What’s the Cost of Switching to Composite Decking for 50 Units?

I'm looking to get a ballpark figure for replacing all the deck boards on 50 decks with composite decking. Our cooperative has 20-year-old decks that look pretty shabby because we used an opaque stain that doesn't hold up well. Stripping them down to apply a clear stain is costing too much, and it seems like it might be more cost-effective in the long run to just switch to composite. What kind of price per square foot should I expect for this type of project?

I’d say you’re looking at around $20 to $25 per square foot for labor if you’re hiring someone. Are you planning to do it all yourself or hire out? That's a big factor in the overall cost!

Have you considered sticking with a solid stain? It might be less expensive in the short term, but with all that wet exposure, you'd probably need to redo it every couple of years. I understand that could lead to hefty costs, though! I’ve heard some people mention that spray stuff called 'FLEXSTEEL' for a more permanent solution, but it sounds like it’s been met with some skepticism in your community.
