What’s the Deal with Behr Paint? Am I Missing Something?

I've recently been told by a friend that I shouldn't buy Behr paint after they saw the cans I had stored. I've looked online and found that many people feel Behr is a bad choice, claiming it requires 3-4 coats to look good. However, in my own experience using Behr Marquee, I've only needed 1-2 coats to achieve a solid color, even transitioning from off-white to a bright blue in my craft room. I'm wondering if there's a hidden issue with Behr that I'm not seeing. Is there a durability concern or something else I should know? My friend has suggested more expensive options like Sherwin Williams, but I'm hesitant. Any insights would be appreciated, especially since I only need small amounts for each room!

Honestly, a lot of the negativity comes from people not prepping correctly. If you do the prep work right, Behr can give you decent coverage in 1-2 coats too. It sounds like you know that already since you’re getting good results! Just stick with what works for you!

I totally agree! I was skeptical at first too, but after a good prep, I found Behr works perfectly fine!

People tend to dismiss Behr just because it's widely available at Home Depot. There's this bias against mega brands, but if you like the results, who cares what others say? Every brand has its share of good and bad reviews, so trust your own experience!

Exactly! It just feels frustrating when I hear people criticize something that works fine for me.

Behr Marquee is solid paint. I've had good results with their semi-gloss in my bathroom, needing just a couple of coats. I guess it varies from one type to another though—I wasn't happy with their eggshell for my living room due to thin coverage. This time around, I’m trying Sherwin Williams Emerald and I'm really loving it!

Yeah, I get that! Different finishes can perform so differently. I swear by Benjamin Moore for ceilings, it really makes a difference.
