What’s the Deal with Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring?

I'm considering installing Tarkett luxury vinyl flooring in my living room, and I'm really drawn to its appearance. I've installed various types of flooring before, including vinyl plank, so I'm confident I can handle the DIY installation. However, I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with Tarkett or luxury vinyl in general. What are your thoughts on the brand and the quality?

I've installed a lot of LVP for clients, and I typically go with Flooret, which has a 40mil wear layer. Personally, I prefer hardwood over LVP, but I think it can be a good option. Just be cautious with cheaper brands; they can wear out quickly. If you pick a higher quality one, it tends to hold up much better and is super easy to install.

I've noticed that a lot of people still choose other brands, but I think if you can find a good-quality LVP, it might just surprise you! I did a huge renovation with many samples and Flooret really stood out in feel and durability.

Yeah, I hear you on the variety of quality. Is it usually worth it to spend more upfront for something that lasts longer?

I recently replaced old vinyl with luxury vinyl planks, and I absolutely love it! It's been great at standing up to traffic and spills, especially with kids and pets. I do have to admit, though, it won't fool anyone into thinking it's real wood. That said, the ease of cleaning and less upkeep makes it worth it for me!

I think it’s great if you have a busy household! Just vacuum regularly and the mopping is super easy.

In my experience, getting quality stuff really pays off. Thicker planks generally resist damage better and hold up way longer. Just make sure to install it correctly, as it's pretty straightforward! I had a water leak issue, and the planks handled the situation well since they’re water resistant. Just a heads up, though—getting transition pieces can be tricky later on if you need them, so grab everything together if you can.

Always a good idea to buy more than you think you'll need! Makes life easier down the road.
