What’s the deal with non-edible houseplants?

I've been wondering about non-edible houseplants. I've kept a bunch of useful plants over the years, like jalapenos, tobacco, and potatoes. They look great and provide psychological benefits, much like typical houseplants. So I'm curious about what drives others to keep non-useful plants. What's the appeal?

For me, it's all about happiness! Those plants make my space feel alive and bring me joy. Plus, they add beauty to my home without needing to be edible.

I think it’s about personal preference! I love caring for my plants. It’s like a little therapy session for me, tending to them helps me slow down and appreciate time. Plus, not everything needs to be practical, right? The aesthetic value is more than enough.

I totally get it! Even if they don’t produce food, non-edible plants have their perks. They purify the air and create a calm atmosphere, which is super good for mental health. It’s just nice to have greenery around that looks good and reduces stress.
