I've noticed that the modern Stanley Sweetheart tools seem to have disappeared from stores, and I'm having trouble finding replacement parts. A few of my colleagues really liked the 60 1/2 block planes and some of the chisels, and I have a No. 4 that I've had for years and it works fine. Did the sales of these tools really dip that badly for Stanley to discontinue the line?

The Sweetheart chisels have been hit or miss. Some users swear by them, while others think they’re terrible. I’ve got a set I've used for years and love them, but I've seen a lot of complaints about handles coming loose. It’s a mixed bag for sure!
Yeah, it feels like Stanley's more focused on their DeWalt line these days. It's a bummer how they’ve handled brands like Porter. They could have turned out a solid line of hand tools if they wanted to, but it seems like they just can't keep it together. Really disappointing considering they have access to all the great designs from the originals!
I think those import tariffs really squeezed the profit margins for them, so they might have stopped production to re-evaluate their strategy. It's a tough market for manufacturers these days.
Honestly, I'm not surprised they're hard to find. There have been some pretty brutal reviews for the planes and chisels. Those tools had some major issues, which has been pretty evident in this community. I think there are better entry-level options now anyway, so the Sweetheart tools might not be missed much.
I’ve still seen some tools sold at Home Depot. They claim to have stock, but the quality has been hit or miss, especially with the aluminum lever cap on some planes. The reviews haven’t been great, and it sounds like returns became a hassle for stores too. Overall, kind of a mess compared to what they used to produce.
