Hey everyone, I have a quick question for the beginners out there. When I'm working with jointed and planed 2x2s and making 45-degree cuts, is there a real difference between doing a bevel cut versus a miter cut? Just trying to clarify the functional differences. Thanks!

Great question! A bevel cut typically involves cutting the edge or end of the board, while a miter cut is made on the face of the board. For accuracy, I’d recommend using a chop saw for miter cuts—you’ll likely avoid a lot of deflection and inconsistencies that come with bevel cuts. If you really want precision, a table saw with a sled is even better.

That makes sense! I ended up using my miter saw for accuracy. I’m looking to build a new sled since mine only cuts 90s. I was just caught up trying to understand if I would see any difference with a bevel cut.
