What’s the Difference Between the DWS779 and DWS780 Miter Saws?

I'm trying to understand the differences between the DWS779 and DWS780 sliding compound miter saws, specifically Lowe's item numbers 1097900 and 1097901. I've worked at Lowe's for three years, and despite my experience, I still can't pinpoint why the DWS779, currently priced at $229 and often comes with promotions, is cheaper than the DWS780. Any insights would be appreciated!

While yes, the DWS780 costs a bit more, I've been looking into the DCS785 model too. It's a newer 20V 12" miter saw with enhanced dust collection and wireless tool control, though I wish they'd advertised it better. It's a nice upgrade if you're consistent in your projects!

I used the DCS785 last week, and it blew me away – amazing performance!

From my experience with the DCS781, the dust collection on that is definitely better than the corded models, although the wireless control sounds like a solid feature.

Don't forget that aside from the light feature, the DWS780 has more bevel settings and sturdier knobs compared to the DWS779.

The DWS780 is a bit lighter and features a light that indicates where the blade will cut, which can be super handy for accuracy. If you want more detailed differences, check out some guides online that outline the comparisons. There's also a discussion thread from the community that might cover additional points.

Thanks! I knew I was missing something somewhere.

The DWS780 also has crown stops and more metal components compared to the plastic ones on the DWS779, making it a better option if you're going to use it regularly.
