I've got an old outdoor fireplace built from rock and brick on my back patio, and I need to tear it down because it's too close to the vinyl overhang. I've been using a 10-pound sledgehammer to break it up, but it's going really slow and my back is hurting! Is there a quicker method I can use without having to rent a jackhammer?

You might want to look into renting a demolition hammer from Home Depot. They're smaller, more manageable, and perfect for this kind of job. A hammer drill with a concrete bit could also speed things up a lot!
If you can get a hammer drill going, drill some holes in the seams. Once you start breaking those apart, the sledgehammer should work a lot better!

You could rent a larger breaker with an SDS Max chisel bit. I used one on a vertical wall recently, and as long as you let the tool do the work, it’s pretty quick! Just be careful about the rebar!
