What’s the Estimated Cost to Add a 3/4 Bathroom in My Home?

I just bought a house that currently has one full bathroom upstairs. I'm looking to add a 3/4 bathroom in the primary bedroom, which is right next to the existing bathroom wall. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what it might cost to add a toilet, sink, shower stall, wall, and door? I really have no idea what the total cost could end up being. Thanks in advance!

Location plays a significant role in pricing! In the mid-Atlantic area where I am, I paid under $10,000 for an existing bathroom renovation. A completely new 3/4 bath could cost between $15,000 and $20,000 here. If you live in a less expensive area, it might be more affordable. Just make sure to get several quotes to compare.

Totally agree, local costs vary so much. Good luck with it!

That's really helpful to know! I'll definitely shop around for different contractors.

I recently did a major renovation and ended up spending around $10,000 for a bathroom update which included a shower, sink, floors, and some wall painting while keeping the same toilet. Just keep in mind, if you're moving plumbing and HVAC ducts, that can skyrocket your costs.

Getting estimates directly from contractors is definitely the way to go! Without knowing specifics about your home, it's tricky to give an exact price. But you can expect costs to range from about $1,000 to upwards of $50,000 depending on the work needed.
